Tatiana Maslany
Tatiana Maslany delivered one of the most technically demanding performances in television history, a Canadian actress who played upward of a dozen distinct characters in a single series and made each one instantly recognizable without a single prosthetic trick to lean on. She broke through with Orphan Black (2013), winning an Emmy for a role that required her to act opposite herself across multiple clone characters in the same scenes, then moved into film with Stronger (2017) opposite Jake Gyllenhaal before headlining Marvel’s She-Hulk: Attorney at Law (2022). The Orphan Black performance remains one of the more underrecognized achievements of the prestige television era relative to how difficult it actually was.
On screen, Maslany operates through a chameleonic precision that allowed Orphan Black’s clones to read as fully separate people through posture and vocal choice alone, a technical feat the show built its entire premise around. Her hazel eyes and adaptable, expressive face give her a malleability that few actresses can claim, and She-Hulk asked her to carry a comedic, fourth-wall-breaking tone that proved she could work just as well outside the prestige drama register.
